mug shot
Yes, I'm still here. Winter sucks and I haven't been riding at all. Running and lifting a little, but I sick of it. I've had 4 different illness' this winter and I can't friggin take it. I've got the immune system of a two year old. But check out the beard. Don't forget that March is "Mustache Madness Month".

mayan ruins
This place was amazing. I always thought there was only a few of these in remote areas. But it is a whole city of ruins distributed through the woods and on old street. You can see stones from the ruins reused in buildings in the little towns. Nothing goes to waste. It is a very poor surrounding area. The spanish conquistadors seemed to homogenized with the mayan people and it is very much a blend of cultures, but you do see quite a few mayan descendents with destinct characteristics. When was the last time you saw a native american?

Princess
The true beetle lives
I hadn't driven a bug since my 73' superbeetle. That was my 1st car and 22yrs ago. Goddamn I'm gettin old. (like wine). This was on the Island of Cozumel. I highly recommend renting a car and escaping the port area. The port area as well as the people are nice and interesting, but there are deserted beaches to die for on east side of the island. One could run around naked, if one wished to do so.
The resort
Occidental Grand Flamingo Xcaret
This is the resort that my beautiful bride and I stayed. Thanks to all of you who contributed to our honeymoon fund at the travel agency. We had eight days in paradise. This is about 30-35miles from Cancun, but not nearly as spring breakesque. On the other side of the tree is the crystal blue Carribean Sea and at night I don't believe I have ever seen so many stars.
playa del carmen
We made it back from Mexico. Here in Playa del Carmen I was "Mr. Tattoos", or "Senor Whiskers", to everyone that was trying to sell me something. (Including several approaches for weed, or blow), you know; whatever you want, Senor Whiskers.
Weather was great, prices were low, and it was a festival for the eyes and ears.

Pepe'

This dog had more personality than most people you will meet. His only fault is that he thought he was much bigger than he actually was. In life there are certain people and animals that you just immediatly have a kinship with; well it was just that way with this dog. Although I am allergic to dogs this guy was my buddy. Him and his pals went out and came across something a little more badass then they were. The other two dogs got some minor cutes and bruises, but what ever it was got a hold of Pepe'. Broke his poor little neck and a few hearts. Rock on little buddy.

Pacifica is offically open
This was officially the longest I have ever been in a bar before drinking. Seeing all those folks gettin "tore out d frame", I think I will refrain from gettin wasted in public. Wow! Wowwie!
Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? You would be amazed at the things people say and do when wasted.
On another point, did you see the halo over my head because I am free at last, free at last. Thanks for all the support.
Peace.
P.S. this week I will be there thur.,fri.,sat., and sun.

the lonesome highway
About two, or three blocks down the road is the lonesome spot that Hank found his end in a fillin station parking lot. Some you just can't save from themselves, but they soar across the sky like fabulous roman candles. Some fault him for his lifestyle, but I just honor his works of art and their impact on all rock and country music through out the world.
Long live his memory.

Geronimo
For those of you who are around my age. Remember when kids played outside and all we did was play cowboys and indians, or something that envolve plastic guns and knifes. Yeah, those were the days. When I was a kid everyone would yell, "Geronimo!", when doing something daring, or dangerous, like jumping their bmx bike off of their buddies roof and into the pool before getting busted by the grandfather of said buddy. Well, with all that said, I couldn't resist this painting. It was purchased at Crackers in Norfolk after a few liberations.

Enough already
This is how I feel after a month off. Yeah-yeah I'm sure I'll be sorry after I'm back in the daily grind, but fuuuuuuuck man. After 7 years of 50+ hours, lifting, riding and everything else on top of trying to have a life, I have had enough of the free time. I'm staying busy, but you need work to make you appreciate your time off. I guess you never miss your water til the well runs dry, there is no good without evil, no light without dark, no love without hate, no peace without war. You know the ole yin and yang.
I think it would be great to work about 31/2 days, or 4 short days. Anything would be better than the 8:30 to 8:30 schedule the Conte's wanted me to work. But, thats all behind me. I actually start training this Sunday and should officially start the day after turkey day. So long life of leisure, so long fountain of energy back to the rat race so I can enjoy my time off and have something to bitch about. hallelujah!

Wes Cheney you lucky bastard
I went to the Tidewater Mountain Bike Challenge a few weeks back and was in the field the sat. before the race. JB, Carrie and I had rode a pre-race lap and were all packing up. I looked down amongst the horse shit on the ground and found this great ipod. whoa eee jackpot! Well, a couple of weeks later I remembered it in the glovebox. Listened to some great mix music and then it died. I went to charge the thing up and at first it wouldn't let me. After downloading an ipod update and trying again a name popped up that seemed familiar. Yeap, your guessed it. Wes Cheney. So, if you guys see Wes tellum I got it and to shoot me a line.
the grill
We got a new grill and it is small and awesome. The Patio Caddie from Char-broil fits perfectly in small places. Its cooking surface is a little small, but whata ya gonna do. You can easily cook enough meat for four people, but the veggies will have to wait, or be done inside. Hey, how bout a salad.

alcohol isn't good for me?
Life in the fast lane
The last month has flown bye. I left Conte's after seven years, raced Tidewater Mountain Bike Challenge, rode my mtb more than I had in the last two years, went to Roanoke Va. and Ferrum College to visit my almamater, read several books, made two batches of hot sauce, became an uncle, petitioned a judge to allow me to perform my ole buddies marriage ceremony and did so. I also shared a huge loss to the community and her friends, hell the whole world as far as I am concerned. Jan worked for Operation Smile for the last six years and before that Hope House. She loved to ride motorcycles, go to rock shows, dance, drink budweiser, and most of all smile. She had had some health problems, but the doctors had said she was cancer free. A few spots were found two weeks ago and it was all too aggressive. Life is sweet and oh so short. Rock and Roll Motherfucker!
