Two beautiful birds and one fool

Geronimo
For those of you who are around my age. Remember when kids played outside and all we did was play cowboys and indians, or something that envolve plastic guns and knifes. Yeah, those were the days. When I was a kid everyone would yell, "Geronimo!", when doing something daring, or dangerous, like jumping their bmx bike off of their buddies roof and into the pool before getting busted by the grandfather of said buddy. Well, with all that said, I couldn't resist this painting. It was purchased at Crackers in Norfolk after a few liberations.

Enough already
This is how I feel after a month off. Yeah-yeah I'm sure I'll be sorry after I'm back in the daily grind, but fuuuuuuuck man. After 7 years of 50+ hours, lifting, riding and everything else on top of trying to have a life, I have had enough of the free time. I'm staying busy, but you need work to make you appreciate your time off. I guess you never miss your water til the well runs dry, there is no good without evil, no light without dark, no love without hate, no peace without war. You know the ole yin and yang. I think it would be great to work about 31/2 days, or 4 short days. Anything would be better than the 8:30 to 8:30 schedule the Conte's wanted me to work. But, thats all behind me. I actually start training this Sunday and should officially start the day after turkey day. So long life of leisure, so long fountain of energy back to the rat race so I can enjoy my time off and have something to bitch about. hallelujah!

Wes Cheney you lucky bastard
I went to the Tidewater Mountain Bike Challenge a few weeks back and was in the field the sat. before the race. JB, Carrie and I had rode a pre-race lap and were all packing up. I looked down amongst the horse shit on the ground and found this great ipod. whoa eee jackpot! Well, a couple of weeks later I remembered it in the glovebox. Listened to some great mix music and then it died. I went to charge the thing up and at first it wouldn't let me. After downloading an ipod update and trying again a name popped up that seemed familiar. Yeap, your guessed it. Wes Cheney. So, if you guys see Wes tellum I got it and to shoot me a line.
the grill
We got a new grill and it is small and awesome. The Patio Caddie from Char-broil fits perfectly in small places. Its cooking surface is a little small, but whata ya gonna do. You can easily cook enough meat for four people, but the veggies will have to wait, or be done inside. Hey, how bout a salad.

alcohol isn't good for me?
Life in the fast lane
The last month has flown bye. I left Conte's after seven years, raced Tidewater Mountain Bike Challenge, rode my mtb more than I had in the last two years, went to Roanoke Va. and Ferrum College to visit my almamater, read several books, made two batches of hot sauce, became an uncle, petitioned a judge to allow me to perform my ole buddies marriage ceremony and did so. I also shared a huge loss to the community and her friends, hell the whole world as far as I am concerned. Jan worked for Operation Smile for the last six years and before that Hope House. She loved to ride motorcycles, go to rock shows, dance, drink budweiser, and most of all smile. She had had some health problems, but the doctors had said she was cancer free. A few spots were found two weeks ago and it was all too aggressive. Life is sweet and oh so short. Rock and Roll Motherfucker!

Mill Mountain
This is at the top of Mill Mountain in Roanoke, Va. I went to college about 40 miles from here. It is a beautiful part of Va. Roanoke is a quiet little city as far as cities go. Lots of great mountain and road riding. Some of va.'s most beautiful land scape and very low crime rates. The houses and property are 1/4 of what you pay here at the beach. Maybe a simpler life, we'll see.
